New Delhi: Net Components: India is the world’s most tech-savvy nation, according to research

India, where net neutrality is a cornerstone of the country’s new digital economy, has a huge opportunity for the global tech industry, according a new report.

The report by Net components, an international network of the global technology industry, said India is poised to overtake the United States as the world leader in the digital economy.

The country’s Internet is one of the world most advanced, said a report by the Net components in New Delhi, India, on Thursday.

The country is ranked number two in terms of the number of Internet connections per person and third in terms for Internet penetration, it said.

The report said India’s average broadband penetration rate stands at 65 percent.

India has also made significant progress in reducing its dependence on copper cables and broadband providers, which were heavily used by India’s telecom industry in the past decade.

India, with a population of 1.2 billion, has one of Asia’s fastest-growing Internet services and is poised for a boom in the countrys broadband market, the report said.

India is ranked fifth globally for the number and size of Internet users, and third globally for mobile Internet access.
